Love-shyness is a specific type of severe chronic shyness that impairs or prevents intimate relationships. It implies a degree of inhibition and reticence with potential partners that is sufficiently severe to preclude participation in courtship, marriage and family roles. According to this definition, love-shy people find it difficult if not impossible to be assertive in informal situations involving potential romantic or sexual partners. It's amazing you said that because I've asked before if anyone has ever heard of being love-shy and no one has heard of it! I myself suffer from love-shyness. And it's so hard because I'm too shy to approach females (I'm a male) which in turn leads to severe depression when I see couples together that are actually HAPPY!!! I want to have a relationship so bad but I'm just too chicken to make eye contact or to start a conversation with them!!! It's a social anxiety disorder which is terribly hard to overcome especially has the years go by. Maybe a counselor would help the situation out if you are willing to go through it.
